I'll admit it. This one played out better in my head. Even I admit this comic strip is a bit lackluster.
Ok fine, I'll just go ahead and say it. This particular comic strip, is terrible. The idea was good, but the execution... was just terrible. I'm, sorry.

Moving on from that grim tone. I've just recently learned the original last name of the Edisons from Maniac Mansion. In the original version of Maniac Mansion, the Meteor Mess arcade game shows the initials of all of the characters. For example, Dr Fred has the initials DFS, while Nurse Edna has NES, and Weird Ed has WES. The thing is, their last name is Edison (as noted in the manual), yet all of these initials end in S. Later versions corrected this, and they became DFE,NEE,and WEE. But what did the S originally stand for?
Well I just found out. It stood for Schwartz. How do I know this? Well, Ron Gilbert just recently posted the original pitch documents for Maniac Mansion, online for us all to see. It mentions that name quite a bit in the introduction.

Anyway, you can see the oddity here: http://home.comcast.net/~ervind/mmzakold.html
And you can find the original names here: http://grumpygamer.com/maniac_mansion_design_doc
Pretty interesting, don't you think?

Oh, and uh... maybe I should comment on the comic at hand a little bit.
Well, you've got to admit, the things you have to do to unlock things sometimes, can be pretty damn strange.
How about you leave your thoughts in a comment.
