In case you missed it, I'm dedicating this October to a really long (and early) Halloween special based on this overrated game. So enjoy the first in a five parter.
Now, to talk about the comic at hand.
The first time I played Five Nights at Freddy's, I spent a good five minutes or so trying to figure out how to leave the damn room. Heck, I even looked up online "controls for Five Nights at Freddy's". The thing is, the game's graphics reminded me of those crappy first person adventure games akin to Myst. Since there was two clearly open doors to the side, and a bunch of homicidal robots wandering about, I figured the point of the game was to wander about, gathering clues about horrifying things, and avoiding the robots while using your cameras to help avoid running into them. But no, all you can do is sit there starting at that damn fan. Talk about the first major nail in the coffin.
Also, what on earth are you supposed to be guarding anyway? The robots seem more than capable of protecting themselves, so you clearly aren't protecting them. As a matter of fact, the robots seem perfectly capable of guarding the entire place. If someone ever broke into the place, you'd just lock the doors and let the robots deal with it, so what the hell are you even doing there?
At one point, I rather liked the idea that you're there against your will, in some sort of twisted game, akin to Saw (which I've never actually watched). But then you get a paycheck at the end of the game, so I guess that can't be it.
All in all, this game is just so stupid. I know all horror games are stupid in someway, but this one... it doesn't even try to hide it. Which I suppose is good thing, now that I think about it. I just hope that in the sequel, they actually put in some proper Myst like gameplay, because sitting in that office waiting to die is so damn tedious.
