At the heart of every religion is a simple code of ethics. Be nice to your fellow man and never kill, unless that person follows a different religion, in which case forget what I just said.
What I don't get though is that almost all of the major religions all worship the exact same god. That's right, Christians, Muslims, Catholics, and the Jewish, all worship the exact same god. They merely disagree on a few technicalities, but except from that, they're pretty much all the exact same religion!
To better explain it, imagine Star Trek. The Jewish are the fans of The Original Series, Catholics are the fans of The Next Generation, Muslims are the fans of Deep Space Nine, and Christians are the fans of the new JJ Abrams films. They're all Star Trek! Sure, there are differences, but they're all still Star Trek! And at least Star Trek fans actually realize that. Instead of warring between each other, they instead go to war against Star Wars fans and Doctor Who fans, you know, franchises that are actually different to the one they love so much!
Religion is weird. Although I suppose that's to be expected.
