And while it may not be the politically correct reason. You've also got to admit that it usually yields better results.
It does bring up a good question though. Why do westerners prefer to make their characters male, while easterners prefer to make their characters female?
This even applies to me, after all, the two main characters in this comic strip are guys. And the main characters in all of the games I've ever made, have all been guys.
Yet, I've seen lots of Japanese media have women as lead characters, simply for the eye-candy.
Is it because us westerners want to be cool, and think guys are cooler? Is it because we don't want to be seen as perverts, and so avoid women? Is it because we basically make ourselves the main character out of a lack of originality? Or is it something else?
I'm not trying to make a statement here. Only a general observation.
