Author Notes:
Firstly, a PC isn't better just because of "graphics", that notion has been bred by the fact that the majority of console wars were simply about graphics, and PC gamers got so fed up with it that they wanted to prove that none of the consoles had the best "graphics". I mean, just look at games on the Amiga vs the NES, and tell me which looks better, and which came out first.
Secondly, the PC is better than consoles for numerous reasons. It has an extensive library of games ranging all the way back to the late eighties. There's an incredible amount of indie games available. There's a ridiculous amount of freeware games. If you don't mind piracy, you have quite honestly the best "virtual console" in the world. Also, online game shops like Steam, Epic, and GOG, frequently do giveaways (a completely unheard of concept for consoles by the seems of things), plus there’s the fact that you don’t have to pay a subscription to play online. And that's just game content!
Let's not forget there are plenty of utilities on computers. You could write a book, do accounting, make a game, compose music, draw art. You can't do any of that on a console (or if you can, it's very difficult). None of this has got anything to do with "graphics" in fact, you can benefit from all of that with a computer that's cheaper than any console, therefore even demolishing the whole "oh, but it's so expensive" argument.
So yeah, a PC is simply better than a console, no matter which way you slice it.
"Ah, but you're just trying to ruin people's fun!" is another thing I've heard.
NO WE'RE NOT! WE'RE SICK TO DEATH OF YOU LOT TRYING TO RUIN EVERYONE ELSES FUN!
First there was the constant complaints that "My console is better than yours!" now there's the constant complaints of "PC gamers are so full of themselves, consoles are better".
It's always about being better with these people! So you try to get on their level, to prove that their arguments are invalid and that they should just have their fun and stop complaining, and then they have the sheer gall to call you the insecure one trying to ruin THEIR fun!
For the record, if it's a AAA game, I prefer to play it on a console. Simply because of DRM. And before anyone even thinks about saying "DRM isn't that bad", I point you to Tron Evolution and Assassin's Creed Origins.
Quite honestly, unless it's free, old, from GOG.com, an indie game, or you're pirating it, dealing with the PC version is more trouble than it's worth.
But don't you EVER say a console is better than a PC. That's like saying having a McDonald's nearby is better than having a kitchen with all of the utilities.
Also, if you've got a problem with someone who spent £4000 on a computer, just to run games at maximum graphics, acting as though they're superior to you just because you bought a console, then you're the one with the problem.
Quite honestly, I'd be perfectly ok with someone acting superior to me if they have a £1000 setup for listening to music, while I just play mine on crappy semi-broken speakers from 1995. Because quite honestly, in that regard, they are superior. Because obviously they're much more invested in having the best experience and best quality.
I would find it annoying if they kept rubbing my face in it all the time, but then again, I'm not constantly comparing my crappy semi-broken speakers from 1995 to a nearly identical set of crappy semi-broken speakers from 1995, and as such, I'm not inviting anyone to rub my face into their superior setup. See, if you didn’t attract attention to yourselves, this whole debate would never have been a thing to begin with!
Sorry about the rant, but I've been rubbed the wrong way on quite a few comments that weren't direct to me in any shape or form.
