This has never actually happened to me on Dwarf Fortress, but something similar has. I was given a quest to kill a vampire, I was given his name and I went looking for him. I looked up on the internet where I was most likely to find him, and it said he was most likely a noble in the keep of the town. So I went there and found someone with the same first name as the vampire I was looking for, he had a different last name, but the same first name. I asked him about his family and everyone who he was mentioning, he kept saying had died. I came to the conclusion that his entire family must have died from old age, and that he must be my vampire. So I accused him and he was like "How did you know?" I mean seriously, he didn't even try to hide his identity.
Also, as for the Ratflail reference, I swear I didn't realize it until after I made the comic, and that it was completely unintentional. Then again, I can't say the same for my subconscious.
