Yeah, this was pretty much my reaction. Turns out that there was a good reason for it though. It's a common JRPG trope, so you can probably guess what it is.

Great game by the way. Definitely my third favourite Dragon Quest game. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who likes those types of games.

Yeah, pretty much. They've been pulling that stunt since Dragon Quest 3.
