The recent Tony Hawk's remake is a really fun game. Absolutely brilliant, and way WAY better than the crappy one that RoboModo released years ago. Although if you think about it, there's been a remake of ProSkater 1 and 2 released on every console generation after their initial release on the PS1. That's weird.

The only downside to this latest remake, are the menus. They look like something that belongs on a Live Service game for Tablet devices. They're horrible!
Look, I'm no expert on UI design. Game design, sure, but UI design, not at all. But I know what I like and what I don't, and I can safely say that I don't like this. I think the worst part is that they've tried and failed to make everything accessible at once with a single button press. I am constantly pressing the wrong buttons to get to places in the menus!
Like one moment it's the circle button to go back, then it's L1, then it's triangle, it's an absolute mess!
Considering it's made by Activision and I don't tend to play AAA games (because honestly, they're all crap) is it safe to assume that this terrible UI design is the standard now?

I mean, don't get me wrong. I'd still rather play this remake than the originals, any day. The gameplay has been improved that much. But the menus man. They're nearly as bad as Dwarf Fortress. The rest of the game is good though. Highly recommended to fans of the series.

(By the way, I always hoped that Vicarious Visions would remake ProSkater 1 and 2 after seeing their remake of Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and 3, and remembering that they did the brilliant handheld versions of the Tony Hawk's series, and that Activision did the Crash Bandicoot remake and owns the Tony Hawk's license. But I never thought it would happen considering the failure of ProSkater 5, the expiry of the license, and Tony Hawk's ProSkater HD not being that old. Glad to see that it happened though.)
