I honestly can't be the only one who noticed all of the FPS games that were blatantly copying Call of Duty and Halo, but claiming that it was only because the old way was "dated" and "impossible to do". Only for a game like Doom Eternal to eventually come along and make everyone backtrack those statements by copying that instead.

I am not kidding when I say that developers have gone on record as saying that it's impossible to have more than two weapons on a console FPS and still be playable. It was an obvious lie at the time, since there were countless console FPS games which allowed you to use more than two weapons, and they were both quite functional and fun. Half Life for the PS2 and the Timesplitters series come to mind. But those were during the 6th gen, and this two-weapon trend began on the 7th gen.

It's for reasons like this, why I never believe anything a game developer says as a reason for why something is the way it is in a game. Game companies have been proven to lie again and again, and the developers have clearly shown that they're willing to lie for their companies.
If I was to list every lie that I can remember, this would become quite the wall of text. So I won't list them. But it is indeed a vast list.
