Has anyone else noticed how the comment sections on websites has been disappearing over the past two years?
Usually under the pretense of "negativity" despite the comment sections not being any more negative than usual?

I always used to love to scroll to the comment section and "see what the experts think" so to speak. It usually allowed you to get straight to the point and see what people's actual opinions on a matter were, instead of having to assume what they were based on the narrative that's being spun. Usually I'd be pleasantly surprised, and find out that most people are thinking the same as me.
I'd also usually find out information that was left out or that the writer just wasn't aware of at the time. I mean of course there was always tons of crap you had to wade through, but those comments were always easy to spot and ignore. Overall I found the comment section on websites to be a brilliant addition, and if I didn't, I wouldn't have read them. But this is all slowly becoming a thing of the past.

I tell you, it's only a matter of time until Youtube removes the comment section, after all, if you're reading or writing comments then you're not watching videos (I think the only reason they haven't removed it yet, is because it helps their algorithm). If they're smart about it, they'll slowly make it more and more inconvenient to use, before disabling it entirely. But since when has Youtube been smart about making changes?
